Originally from eastern Iowa, Dr. Spurgeon’s parents were elementary teachers. They instilled the importance of education to him, spurring him to pursue a post-graduate education of some type. With three older brothers who were extensively into sports (up to and beyond division one collegiate levels), he developed a great interest in physical health and fitness.

While visiting a chiropractor at a young age for a general check-up, he remembers feeling great after adjustments. He continued to see the chiropractor off and on for various sports-related issues, and as he considered what he wanted to do “when he grew up”, he felt the job entailed much of what he enjoyed. After realizing the much esteemed Palmer College of Chiropractic (PCC) was just a short thirty minute drive from his hometown, the decision seemed to be an easy one. Before long he was planning his education in chiropractic medicine.

After graduating from PCC he worked with several experienced chiropractors and atlas orthogonal doctors around the country, including the founder of the Atlas Orthogonal Technique, Dr. Roy Sweat. He went on became board certified in the technique, which focuses on specifically and gently correcting misalignment of the neck vertebrae. While he has practiced in several states and has even been recruited to work in Dubai, UAE, Dr. Spurgeon has returned to the midwest to practice.

Dr. Spurgeon has been practicing in the Kansas City area since 2012. Always top priority for Dr. Spurgeon is patient care, and a relentless obsession at improving their conditions. While his focus includes head and neck conditions, he continues to employ many adjusting, soft-tissue, and exercise-based rehabilitation techniques for all conditions. He believes in staying up to date with the latest techniques, education, and technology. Current and past state licensure: Georgia, New Mexico, Iowa, Missouri, Kansas
